The study adopted a descriptive survey design methodology and made use of Corkran sample size determination formula to arrive at a sample frame and a non-probability purposive sampling technique to select 384 respondents for the study, however, after data cleaning and verification, only 339 responses were found to be correctly completed and suitable for analysis. Data were collected exclusively through semi-structured questionnaires. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze response patterns and identify trends, while one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was employed to determine whether statistically significant differences existed in responses across the service branches. Findings revealed that Military Vehicles (183 responses, 24.6%), Ammunition and Explosives (162 responses, 21.8%), Logistics and Information Technology/Cyber security (141 responses, 18.9%), and Personnel Equipment and Clothing (117 responses, 15.7%) as the most prioritized procurement areas. However, ANOVA results revealed no statistically significant differences in responses across branches (p-values > 0.05), suggesting shared institutional experiences and perceptions. Furthermore , the study also showed that the most frequently applied procurement methods included Selective Tendering, Single-Source Procurement, Open Competitive Bidding, Two-Phase Procurement, and Offset Procurement. The study concluded that Defence procurement is a critical function in Nigeria, essential for ensuring national security, military effectiveness, and technological advancement. The study recommended that, Government should prioritize strategic areas of procurement such as Military Vehicles, Ammunition and Explosives, Logistics and Support Services, Information Technology and Cyber Security, and Personnel Equipment and Clothing to ensure the effectiveness of the Nigerian Armed Forces; optimize procurement methods and Address challenges inhibiting Defence procurement.

Key Words: Defence, Nigeria’s Public Procurement Nigerian Defence Procurement, Challenges of Defence Procurement
2025-10-15T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Mkar Journal of Management And Social Sciences https://journals.umm.edu.ng/index.php/mjomass/article/view/155 SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AND PROCUREMENT PERFORMANCE OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS IN BENUE STATE-NIGERIA 2025-09-12T12:23:09+00:00 Blessing Ehi Onyilo ehimybaby1@gmail.com Avanenge Faajir prof.faajir@gmail.com Olafemi Ayopo Olotu olafemi25@gmail.com
This study examined the effect of supply chain management on procurement performance of NGOs in Benue State, Nigeria. Guided by the Sustainability Theory and Stakeholder Theory, the research assessed the economic, environmental and social dimensions of sustainable procurement in enhancing operational efficiency in healthcare service delivery. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with a sample of 178 respondents drawn from a population of 323 staff using Yamene’s formula. Data was collected through structured questionnaires, validated for content and construct validity, and tested for reliability with a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.977. Regression analysis showed that all three dimensions of sustainable procurement significantly influence operational efficiency. Economic practices explained 32% of efficiency variation, social practices 41%, while environmental practices had the strongest effect, accounting for 72% of efficiency variation. The study concluded that sustainable procurement practices play a vital role in improving operational efficiency, although BSUTH faces systemic challenges that mirror broader issues in Nigeria’s healthcare procurement system. To address these, it is recommended that BSUTH adopt cost-effective strategies such as bulk purchasing and lifecycle cost analysis, promote inclusivity through local sourcing and fair labor practices, implement eco-friendly procurement initiatives, and provide training to procurement officers on sustainability principles.

Keywords: Sustainable procurement, Economic sustainability, Social sustainability, Environmental sustainability, Operational efficiency, Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria).
2025-10-15T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Mkar Journal of Management And Social Sciences https://journals.umm.edu.ng/index.php/mjomass/article/view/159 EFFECT OF STRATEGIC PROCUREMENT PLANNING ON THE PERFORMANCE OF FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE MAKURDI, BENUE STATE, NIGERIA 2025-09-17T12:37:12+00:00 Patricia Nwanneka Oji patoji2020@gmail.com Simon Tersoo Kpelai prof.kpelai@gmail.com Emmanuel Igbawase Abanyam abanyamemmanuel@gmail.com
The article explored the effect of strategic procurement planning on organizational performance at the Federal Medical Center, Makurdi, Nigeria, focusing on four key objectives: evaluating the influence of staff competencies, assessing the role of budgetary procedures, investigating the effect of quality specifications, and analyzing the effect of need assessments on organizational performance. Removal of subsidies often occurs in response to fiscal constraints or as part of structural economic reforms. While subsidies can promote social welfare, such as affordable energy or food, their long-term sustainability can be questioned due to the burden subsidies impose and potential market distortions. The subsidy removal process is often accompanied by social and political challenges, especially if it affects the cost of essential goods and services for the general population. university lecturers, especially in Nigeria who were already agitating for improved university education before subsidy removal are posed with challenges that work against successful lecturers’ job performance. A sample of 662 youth was selected using the Taro Yamane formula, while a census was conducted for the other groups. The research focused on three key social marketing strategies: Behavioral Focus, Audience Segmentation, and Value Exchange, and assessed their effectiveness in influencing drug-related behaviors using regression analysis. The findings revealed that Audience Segmentation had the greatest impact on behavioral change, followed by Behavioral Focus, with Value Exchange also showing a significant, but lesser, effect. The study concluded that tailored interventions based on audience characteristics, combined with a focus on changing specific behaviors and offering incentives for positive change, are essential for reducing drug use. The issue is “the best way to manage an organization”. To address this issue there has been a number of responses from different theorists, practicing managers, scholars, sociologists, psychologists and so on. The different assumptions behind these responses are based on behaviour of people in the organizations, the goals, and objectives of the organization, the types of challenges faced and methods that should be employed to meet these challenges. This work seeks to examine the impact of traditional theories on the management of profit-oriented organisations in Nigeria but particularly in Benue State. To achieve this, secondary data pertaining to profit oriented organisations in Benue State were used. It was discovered that Nigeria’s economy particularly the management of profit-oriented organisations after one hundred years has not yielded the desired result due to bad management coupled with other factors militating against effective and efficient management of organisations. It was recommended that traditional management theories that gave positive results in the olden days should be employed in the management of profit-oriented organisations in Nigeria and urgent attention should be given to the identified factors militating against effective and efficient management of profit-oriented organisations in Nigeria.
2025-10-15T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Mkar Journal of Management And Social Sciences
